We Are The People hosts Voters’ Festival ahead of elections

We Are The People Voters' Festival is set to take over The Nest in New Doornfontein to celebrate democracy and serve as a call to action for citizens to make their mark on election day.

We Are The People, a voluntary association promoting civic engagement and participation in democratic elections will host a Voters’ Festival on May 28 from 16:00 – 22:00 at The Nest in New Doornfontein, Johannesburg.

The event is set to celebrate power, history, and freedoms, culminating in a call to action for citizens to make their mark on election day.

The festival aims to inspire and mobilise voters ahead of the general elections on May 29, by providing a space for citizens to unite, celebrate democracy, and engage with the electoral process.

We Are The People executive director Londiwe Mntambo said they are excited to host the Voter’s Festival which goes beyond being a music festival.

“The Voter’s Festival is more than just a music festival but a celebration of our collective power as citizens to shape the future of our nation. We invite all registered voters to join us at the festival to celebrate our democracy and make their voices heard on election day. Together, we can create a future that reflects our values and aspirations,” Mntambo said.

It is said that the festival will feature live music performances, engaging speakers, voter education workshops, and interactive exhibits highlighting the importance of civic engagement.

The event will feature renowned musicians. Those are Thandiswa Mazwai, Wandile Mbambeni, a talented singer and songwriter and the ground-breaking musical collective, Iphupho lika Biko. The DJ line-up boasts seasoned artists such as Mum’Thug, Just Themba and Lelowhatsgood.
