Siyabulela Mokebe’s The Science of Learning is set to break barriers to academic success
Hyde Park High School teacher and author Siyabulela Mokebe unveiled his second book, The Science of Learning, exploring transformative strategies for academic success.
Hyde Park High School teacher, Tamanna for Change founder and author Siyabulela Mokebe officially launched his second book, The Science of Learning at Thusong Youth Centre on October 26.

The event drew a diverse crowd of learners, educators, and community members eager to explore the keys to academic success.
Mokebe reiterated the book’s theme: understanding the psychology and mechanics behind effective learning.
“My goal was to create a resource that transforms how students engage with education. Learning is not just about rote memorisation; it’s about understanding and leveraging your own cognitive processes,” he said.
Among the attendees was Mokebe’s friend and colleague Duma Chauke, who echoed the book’s importance. “Siyabulela’s insights are a game-changer. Many students feel overwhelmed and uncertain about their education. This book provides them with the tools they need to reclaim their learning journey and realise that they can succeed,” Chauke said.
Wits University School of Education senior lecture Thokozani Mathebula also weighed in, emphasising the broader implications of Mokebe’s work.

“Education shapes our future, not just for individuals but for our society as a whole. Siyabulela’s book not only motivates students but also encourages educators to reflect on their roles in facilitating learning. It’s a collaborative journey,” Mathebula said.
Attendees also shared their learning obstacles and how they hoped to overcome them using the strategies outlined in the book.
Mokebe’s warmth and genuine passion for learners to be successful resonated throughout the event, leaving participants inspired and motivated to embrace their educational journeys with renewed vigour.
