More ‘wonderland’ joy is on the cards for Alexandra kids
Rearabiloe Events’ inaugural Easter Hunt Bash is set to get bigger and better, giving Alexandra children an opportunity to experience the world of magic.
For the first time, children in Alexandra were treated to a day of pure enchantment.
This was during an Easter Hunt Bash event hosted by Rearabiloe Events, in partnership with Alexandra Combined ECD Forum, Future Stars, and Edutainment Company on April 11.

Owing to its significance in the community, founder of Rearabiloe Events, Mbali Langa revealed their intentions to hold it annually.
Langa said events such as these were usually enjoyed by private school children, but became a reality for township kids, filling their day with magic and life-changing lessons. “The kids are not used to having it. This was the first of its kind in Alex. So, we decided to bring it into the hood. To show that we can go all the way to bring magic into the hood.”

The children engaged in a range of activities, including the Easter Egg Hunt, where they were darting around searching for hidden eggs filled with treats and surprises. Then came the Magic Show that left the children in awe as the magician seamlessly tossed and caught blazing torches.
Additionally, the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (Sanca) delivered a puppet show, Puppet Pandemonium. “We had a team from Sanca to educate the kids about drugs… If they are aware of this, it gives them knowledge not to find themselves interacting with people who consume drugs or cigarettes,” Langa noted.

The event also served to highlight local talent. An Alex-based group of dancers called Amapantsula brought energy to the stage with their dance moves, serving as a testament to the talent that thrives in the township. Youngsters were also taught data-capturing skills and handling event logistics.
The organisers plan bigger screens, more magic, and even greater opportunities for Alex’s youth next time.
