DZ Movers FC slips to third after missed opportunity
DZ Movers’ missed opportunity against Blue Birds Ladies Development FC knocks them down to third place, and with only two games left, the squad must fight hard and hope Panorama Ladies FC slips.
With just two games remaining in the Women’s Regional League season, DZ Movers FC’s hopes of finishing at the top were dealt a heavy blow this past weekend. Their Saturday fixture against Blue Birds Ladies Development FC at the Alex Safe Hub ended in a 1-1 draw, denying them the crucial three points needed to stay in contention for first place.

The team expected the match to mirror their July triumph over Blue Birds, where DZ Movers secured a 3-2 victory at Diepsloot Safe Hub. Coach Prudent Sibindi had hoped for a repeat performance, but the outcome fell short.
“It is given now, Diepkloof Ladies has already won the league,” Sibindi said. “We are now just fighting for the top spot, which is number two, but anything can happen. We might go to the play-offs, we will never know.”

Before the weekend, DZ Movers were sitting in second place, trailing Diepkloof Ladies by nearly 10 points. A win against the Blue Birds would have helped solidify their position and keep their playoff hopes alive. Instead, the draw opened the door for Panorama Ladies FC, who capitalised with a victory in their own two weekend fixtures, leapfrogging DZ Movers into second place.
The slip to third place is a bitter pill for the team, especially considering how close they were to securing a chance at the playoffs. However, the season is not over. With two matches left, DZ Movers still has a chance to reclaim second place, but only provided Panorama drops points in at least one of their upcoming games.
