Raphadu, who has been actively promoting the programme, urged residents to take full advantage of the opportunity. “Gautrain has started this programme for the entire month of October. They will be doing eye testing and assisting people who have problems with their eyesight,” he said. “We advise that you come in numbers.”
In a recent TikTok video, Raphadu shared that hundreds of residents have already turned up since the announcement. “Since I sent out a message about the programme, we have seen a huge number of people come through after hearing about the opportunity to get free sunglasses and free eye tests,” he said.

On Saturday alone, 200 residents showed up. Raphadu confirmed that 150 more will be accommodated on Sunday, with the same number expected every weekend until the end of the month. “Please wake up early so that you can get in the queues and take this opportunity,” Raphadu urged.
Raphadu said they are still going to talk to Gautrain to explore any chances of extending their programme. He added that they intend to make a positive change in the lives of the residents.
