Road repairs completed on 15th Avenue and Alfred Nzo Street
Ward 107 councillor is glad that Johannesburg Roads Agency has resurfaced the road on 15th Avenue and Alfred Nzo Street, but he hopes more work is done to fix other deteriorating roads in the ward.
The Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) has finally completed resurfacing work on 15th Avenue and Alfred Nzo Street.
Ward 107 councillor Floyd Ngwenya welcomed the progress, noting that he is satisfied with the work done so far. “I am happy that they [JRA] have committed to the work that they said they will do. They have resurfaced 15th Avenue. We are hoping that they are going to resurface Roosevelt [now called Alfred Nzo Street] and make sure they go into Ward 107, so that they can resurface all the streets,” he said.

Despite the improvements, Ngwenya acknowledged that more needs to be done in the ward because several roads are still ‘bad’.

He said he hopes that the JRA will continue its work, particularly along the stretch of Alfred Nzo Street, where conditions remain poor.
The councillor also urged residents to protect the newly repaired infrastructure. He cautioned against damaging roads, something which frequently happens during heated protests over service delivery in the community, where residents block the roads with rubble, dirt and burning tyres.
The completion of resurfacing on 15th Avenue marks a step forward for Ward 107 and has reignited the hope of better road infrastructure in some parts of Alexandra.
