Family of kidnapped Kabelo Dikobe still searching for answers weeks after his disappearance

Despite a suspect being held in custody, Kabelo Dikobe’s family is still left without answers, and their search for closure continues weeks after his disappearance.

The family of Kabelo Dikobe, who was kidnapped on March 29 in Alexandra, is still searching for answers and struggling to come to terms with his disappearance.

His father, Thabo Ngoetjana, said they would appreciate it if authorities were to compel the accused, David Ndala, to disclose where Dikobe is.

“We need closure. We need to move on with our lives. Right now, our livelihoods are stuck because of this whole situation, even though the suspect is in custody,” Ngoetjana said.

He explained that the ordeal has taken an emotional toll on the family, who are finding it difficult to cope.

“No one at home is coping. Even when we try to avoid the topic, someone will call and bring it up again,” he added.

Ngoetjana said the pain is worsened by seeing the accused in court while the whereabouts of their loved one remain unknown.

The case against David Ndala is postponed to May 5 at the Alexandra

“The worst thing is going to court and seeing the suspect walking around freely. To us, he is still free. As long as we don’t know where our child is, it feels like he is on a holiday in there.”

Ndala, who is currently in custody and faces charges in connection with Dikobe’s kidnapping, appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on Monday for his bail application.

Magistrate Reiner Boshoff postponed the matter to Tuesday for continuation and ordered that the accused remain in custody.

While Ndala’s bail application is yet to be heard, Dikobe’s family has made it clear they oppose his release. “I don’t want to see him on the street because I believe he is a danger to the community. If the court grants him bail, you can just imagine what he might do out there,” said Ngoetjana.

As the family waits for yet another court appearance, their burning question remains whether they will finally learn where their loved one is.
