Constable Dakalo Phemula stated that it is alleged the suspects attempted to carjack a vehicle, during which a shooting took place, leaving the two teenagers injured.

One was found lying at the busy intersection of Pretoria Main Road and Florence Mophosho Road, while the other was discovered on a driveway along 4th Avenue.

“The injured suspects were transported to a medical facility under police guard for treatment.” Their current condition has not yet been publicly released.

Furthermore, Phemula described the shooting as occurring between the victim and the suspects, rather than involving a private security officer as initially reported by officials and eyewitnesses on the ground.

Multiple cartridges were recovered from the scene, and SAPS investigations are continuing to establish the full sequence of events.
