Fuel price changes from August 5
Motorists will pay less for petrol but more for diesel and paraffin when the new fuel prices take effect this week.
The minister of mineral and petroleum resources has announced the monthly fuel price adjustments that come into force on August 5.
Petrol 93 and 95 will both drop by 52 cents a litre, while diesel, 0.05% sulphur, will rise by 138.44 cents a litre, and the cleaner 0.005% sulphur grade will rise by 123.44 cents a litre.

Illuminating paraffin wholesale price climbs 152 cents a litre, while the single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin increases by 203 cents a litre.
The maximum retail price of LPGas falls by 441 cents a kilogram nationwide and 503 cents a kilogram in the Western Cape.
The changes are driven by a mix of international and local factors. The average brent crude oil price fell from $86.53 to $82.37.
International petrol prices declined, but diesel and paraffin rose because of supply shortages linked to the Russia/Ukraine conflict, and reduced output from Middle East refineries.

A slight weakening of the rand against the dollar also pushed basic fuel prices higher.
At the same time the slate levy on petrol and diesel drops from 113.94 cents to 61.38 cents a litre after the cumulative slate balance reached a negative R7.418b at the end of June.
The maximum refinery gate price for LPGas imported through Saldanha Bay is set at R14 562.59 per metric ton, with the maximum retail price set at R35.81 per kilogram.
