Career choices: 10 high-demand fields to secure faster employment

IT and software
Most advertised IT posts attract applicants who do not meet the stated requirements. Banks, retailers, mines and the government need developers, cybersecurity staff, cloud engineers and data engineers.

A computer science or software engineering degree is the strongest route, while a diploma or bootcamp can open a junior role sooner.

Data science
Data scientists sit on the national high-demand list. Statistics, applied mathematics or a dedicated data science degree builds the base, while conversion courses help people switching from related fields.

Engineering
