Loyo Stars regains its momentum after defeating Ma-Africa 4–1 in the Hollywoodbets Regional League clash.

Loyo Stars FC believes they has regained their winning rhythm in the Hollywoodbets Regional League, after a 4–1 triumph over Ma-Africa FC on March 28.

The win restores confidence after their narrow defeat to Robertsham Callies FC a week earlier, and signals a return to form for the side.

Loyo Stars’ media liaison Ofentse Maphepha said the result was important for the team’s morale. “It brings us back to our winning streak because we have been collecting three points from our previous games. It is just that the recent game, before this one against Ma-Africa, we lost.”

The game began with Loyo Stars asserting themselves early. Mogomotsi Shaane converted a penalty to open the scoring, and Lesego Sabela doubled the lead soon after. Ma-Africa managed to respond through Simphiwe Gwala’s free kick, narrowing the gap to 2–1 and keeping the contest alive.

For much of the second half, the scoreline remained tight, but in the closing stages, Loyo Stars found the breakthrough they had been searching for. Peter Nkosi struck late, and Bafikile Mbundu followed almost immediately, putting the result beyond doubt.

Despite creating opportunities, Ma-Africa failed to capitalise. Zuma said he had urged his players to test the goalkeeper, but they couldn’t convert. “We knew what was going to happen with the goalkeeper, but, unfortunately, they couldn’t take their chances.”

Maphepha on the other hand revealed that Loyo Stars players had been reminded at halftime to push harder for goals, and they did just that. “It was expected because we did speak about scoring. We told them they needed to test the goalkeeper and take shots, so it was expected.”
