Blue Birds bounce back with seven-goal rout

After a 1–7 loss to DZ Movers, Blue Birds Ladies Development FC struck back ferociously, crushing Batwana FC 7–0 at the Alex Safe Hub.

Blue Birds Ladies Development FC felt the sting of every goal they conceded in their 1–7 defeat to DZ Movers FC in Diepsloot last week.

It was a bruising loss that left them determined to face their next opponents with ferocity. On Sunday, Batwana FC became the unfortunate target of that resolve, suffering a heavy 0–7 defeat in their SAFA Women’s Regional League clash at the Alex Safe Hub.

In the first half alone, the Blue Birds’ relentless attack proved unstoppable, producing six goals before the break and sealing victory with a final strike in the second half.

Coach Malvin Khumalo said the team was driven by the desire to correct last week’s mistakes. “It is a good result. Although it is not exactly what we had planned and prepared for, because last week we conceded seven goals, it was important to correct the goal aggregate and make sure we recovered the goals we conceded there.”

He explained that his initial intention was to score seven goals to balance the aggregate, and only then would they be in a position to build positively from there. “Seven balances what we conceded last week, but it doesn’t add to what we wanted. That’s why I’m saying it’s not enough. We needed seven plus goals.” Still, Khumalo expressed satisfaction with his players’ performance.

As it stands, Blue Birds occupy fourth place on the log with 10 points, having won three of their six matches, drawn one, and lost two. “I’m expecting to see us improving game by game. We have more difficult fixtures ahead. Next week we host Randburg Ladies, a strong side, so we need to continue working hard.”
