Discovery Alex Schools League set to return after successful 2025 season
The Discovery Alex Schools League is coming back, building on the excitement of last year’s U13 boys and girls tournament that drew clubs, communities, families and scouts to Three Square Sports Field in Alexandra.
Now in its 16th year, the Discovery Schools Soccer Programme continues to promote health and wellness among young people through soccer, in partnership with the Johannesburg Primary School Football Association.
Last season’s round-robin tournament, which kicked off on September 10, once again showcased the talent rising in local schools.

In the boys’ final, Skeen Primary School scored twice to defeat Ithute Primary School 2–1, while Gordon Primary School took third place with a 1–0 win over Dr Knack Primary School.
Phumelele Kubeka, marketing manager for sponsorships and experiential marketing at Discovery, said every match was a reminder of the talent in local communities and the pride it brings families and fans.
“We’re proud to support an initiative that not only nurtures future stars, but also builds confidence, connection and opportunity where it matters most,” she said.
