Break a sweat for a good cause

JOBURG – Compass, also known as Community Provision and Social Services has teamed up with gym facility MovementX in Norwood to host a series of intense workouts to raise funds for the children in Compass’ care.

Compass offers a safe place for abandoned and abused women and children and helps rehabilitate them back into society. The team offers medical care, education and food to people in need and are currently in the process of opening a computer school as part of their upliftment programme.

MovementX in Norwood has offered Compass their fantastic facilities and all of their state-of-the-art equipment for the mornings of 12 and 13 March so that those who are interested can join the teams for some unique circuit-based training sessions. The best part? You breaking a sweat will benefit the children in need at Compass.

The workout, known as Xtreme is one hour long, and before you start getting scared, it caters for everyone, from hard-core gym bunnies all the way to novices. Xtreme will be a total body workout led by a personal trainer – think strength, cardio and flexibility, all set to great music so that you’ll hardly notice you’re doing a H.I.I.T (high intensity interval training) session.

Each day has three sessions available.

The session schedule is as follows:

Saturday 12 March

Session 1 – 10am to 11am

Session 2 – 11.15am to 12.15pm

Session 3 – 12.30pm to 1.30pm

Sunday 13 March

Session 1 – 10am to 11am

Session 2 – 11.15am to 12.15pm

Session 3 – 12.30pm to 1.30pm

Sessions cost R300 and all the proceeds will go to Compass.

Those participating will receive a free bottle of water on entry and a smoothie after the workout session.

Compass will be hosting the Xtreme workout on 12 and 13 March, 10am to 1.30pm at Shop 17 Norwood Mall, corner of Hamlin and 6th Avenue, Norwood.
