State-of-the-art science laboratory to be built at East Bank High School

We Love Alexandra, in partnership with other organisations, is set to construct the science laboratory at East Bank High School, not only for the school but also for surrounding schools and science students from universities.

East Bank High School has been earmarked for a large project to improve its facilities by constructing a state-of-the-art science laboratory.

The science laboratory will not only benefit the learners of East Bank but also accommodate learners from neighbouring schools in Alexandra and science students from universities.

This long-awaited upgrade was announced by chairperson of the education committee for We Love Alexandra Banele Sangcozi during an event where National Renal Care donated 391 pairs of shoes to the learners on August 30.

Sangcozi said they chose East Bank High for this programme because it had enough space to host the new laboratory.

“This laboratory represents a new era in science education for our community. It is not just about East Bank High School, it’s about providing a modern learning space for all learners in Alexandra.

“By collaborating with our neighbouring institutions, we are fostering a spirit of inclusivity and shared resources that will empower the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and leaders,” Sangcozi said.

“We are going to have university facilitators that will facilitate science-related programmes on weekdays.”

The announcement came as a part of an ongoing commitment by We Love Alexandra to uplift educational standards in the community. The new facility is expected to be a cornerstone for science education, equipping learners with the tools to conduct experiments, engage in hands-on learning, and ignite their passion for discovery.

National Renal Care CEO Chevon Clark said, “we believe that education is a key driver of change in any community. By donating these shoes and supporting the new science laboratory, we are investing in the future of our youth. A strong foundation in science can lead to vital advancements and opportunities. Together, we can build a brighter future for Alexandra.”
