Man bust for hijacking

A man was arrested for a hijacking in Yeoville.

The arrest took place at the corner of Raymond and Hopkins streets on Sunday, July 6.

“Police officers were on routine patrol when they spotted a vehicle parked on the street corner with one occupant inside. They searched the vehicle and when they checked the registration number, it was discovered that the vehicle was hijacked in Jeppe in May,” said Constable Thabo Malatji, of the Yeoville SAPS.

According to Const Malatji, the occupant of the vehicle was arrested and the owner of the vehicle was contacted. The owner positively identified the suspect as the person who hijacked him.

“He was detained at the Yeoville SAPS and is expected appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Const Malatji. @JoburgJourno
