Residents can expect cold-to-cool weather to persist across Gauteng this week, with only a slight chance of isolated showers in the southern parts of the province on Thursday, July 23.

According to the South African Government News Agency, citing the South African Weather Service (SAWS), a surface high-pressure system is expected to dominate the central and eastern parts of the country, while a cold front is forecast to pass south of South Africa on Thursday.

SAWS said isolated showers are possible over southern Gauteng on Thursday, although the likelihood remains low. Rain is also expected along the country’s east and south coasts from Thursday to Saturday. Elsewhere, fine and cold-to-cool conditions are forecast for most of the week.

Monday’s forecast indicates fine and cold-to-cool weather across much of South Africa. Coastal areas will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers possible along the north coast of KZN and the adjacent interior.

On Tuesday, fine weather is expected over the south-western parts of the country. Elsewhere, conditions will be partly cloudy and warm to cool, with isolated showers and thundershowers likely to develop during the afternoon.

SAWS has urged residents and stakeholders to monitor its official forecasts and weather warnings regularly, as these may be updated should conditions change.

The weather service also cautioned the public against relying on or sharing unverified weather information from unofficial sources.
