The assistant coach of Alex United, Mr Armstrong Letele, said the match was the first game of the second round.
“Alex United was ready for this match,” said Mr Letele.
He said the team had been practising since the start of the new year.
“Vaal Professionals put up a tough game but they could not contain our front line,” said Mr Striker Nethonje, the manager of Alexander United.
He said the rain and the wet field on the day did not hinder Alex United, who won the match 1-0.
Mr Nethonje said Alex United played against African All Stars in a a catch up match on January 11 and won 1-0.
