Parkrun is a free weekly timed event that starts at 8am.
Murray Forman with his son Joel from Saxonwold said they enjoy parkruns. Both joined the most recent Bez Valley Parkrun on February 3.
“I just love the morning breeze and being able to run with my son,” said Kirk.
Observatory residents, Lynn and Kirk Walker, also enjoyed themselves.
“We love it. It’s walking distance from us and we get to enjoy the beauty of the park. We invite other residents to come join. It’s fun for the whole family,” said Lynn.
The parkrun tourists also attended the most recent Bez Valley event as they supported the Bez Valley runners.
Parkrun tourists are parkrunners who travel to different parkruns ticking off as many as they can and exploring South Africa at the same time.
They wear bright orange caps.
“We love visiting different parks because we get to explore the beauty of our country and we do it while we keep healthy,” said one parkrun tourist.
Run director, Rob Whitlock said they are happy with the positive response they are receiving from runners and also asked for volunteers to join.
“We need volunteers to help in preparing for the run. It’s a fun way to spend the morning with family and friends,” said Whitlock.
The parkrun takes place at Bez Valley Park every Saturday at 8am and dogs are also allowed.
