Arts and culture fest showcases talent

Dominican Convent Pre-Primary School hosted its second arts and culture festival on August 3.

The theme, ‘Our Rainbow Nation’, showcased the diversity of South Africa and paid tribute and acknowledgement to Nelson Mandela and Sister Natalie Khun, founder of Wings of Hope, in Belgravia.

The adjudicators were Mrs Sue Thomas, Mrs Brenda Solomon and Mrs Ntsoaki Sithole.

The participating schools were Dominican Convent, Johannesburg Girls’ Preparatory, Wings of Hope Pre-School and Jeppe High Preparatory School.

A total of 194 children participated in poetry, music and dance items.

The children received certificates and trophies for their performances.

Leshae Snyman, one of the learners who participated, said, “I liked the look on my mommy’s face when she saw me dancing. She was proud of me.”

Other children said they loved the beat of the drums and singing Jan Pierewiet.
