Pool set for facelift
The Yeoville Swimming Pool is set to get major repairs before it opens to the public in December.
The pool is situated on the corner of Raleigh and Kenmere Streets.
The EXPRESS reported last month on the poor state the pool was in.
The last time the pool had any major repairs done was in 2006. The pool can accommodate up to 450 people at a time and attracts large numbers during the scorching summer season.
“The tiles are broken, some toilets are not in working order and the place needs a coat of paint,” said Ms Happy Komondela, the superintendent at the Yeoville Swimming Pool.
“We would be happy with any improvements to the pool,” she said. The pool also hosts swimming clinics for the community in order to avoid drowning incidents.
“The Yeoville Swimming Pool, like other pools, will be receiving major refurbishments before it opens in December. It has been earmarked for major repairs and a contractor has already been appointed,” said Ms Thembelihle Radebe from the City of Johannesburg.
