
Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said six people gained entry into a business in Jules Street, Malvern, through the back door at about 1am.
“The suspects went into the room where one of the employees was sleeping. They tied him up, assaulted and stabbed him.
“The suspects went downstairs and broke down a wall leading to the shop. They stole shoes and clothes,” she said.
The victim was badly injured and found by his co-workers at 6.30am.
A case was opened and police officers later received information about one of the suspects. Police officers went to a premises in Malvern and found one suspect in possession of tools used to gain entry into properties.
The suspect gave police officers information about the whereabouts of another suspect. The second suspect was later arrested at the Jumpers informal settlement in Malvern.
