Bedfordview dagga bust: R40 000 worth of drugs seized
Police seized 23 bags of dagga worth an estimated R40 000 at a Bradford Road property in Bedfordview following a tip-off on October 13.
Benoni Flying Squad officers recovered dagga estimated at R40 000 following a tip-off about drugs stored at a residential property in Bedfordview.
According to SAPS Emergency Services spokesperson Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, officers arrived at the Bradford Road address at approximately 21:15 on October 13. “A storeroom was identified where the dagga was allegedly kept, and members could not miss the strong smell emanating from the closed door,” said Giblin.
He said officers entered the room and found 23 bags of dagga with an estimated value of R40 000.

Although no arrests were made on site, Giblin said officers are still trying to trace a suspect in connection with the matter.
Giblin said that the following morning, squad members patrolling the N12 near the Snake Road off-ramp spotted a Toyota Fortuner travelling at high speed.
“They managed to pull the vehicle over at the Tom Jones Street off-ramp, where they conducted a search,” Giblin said.
During the search, officers found 16 bags of dagga worth an estimated R30 000 in the vehicle.
Giblin confirmed that a 46-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene.
Later that day, officers arrested two suspects, aged 25 and 46, for drug-related offences in Etwatwa after Mandrax was recovered in separate incidents.
Giblin said investigations into all cases are ongoing and the suspects will appear in local magistrate’s courts to face charges of possession of and dealing in drugs.
