Reckless biker could face arrest

Spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago has confirmed a biker caught on camera riding recklessly though the streets of Edenvale could face criminal charges.

On Monday a video was uploaded on YouTube showing the bike racing through Edenvale with a young girl, wearing only what was described as a cheap bicycle helmet, clinging on to his shirt as he weaved in and out of traffic.

When the NEWS broke the story the clip had over 6 000 views.

This morning the video clip had been views over 97 000 times.

Since going live various authorities have spoken out about the clip calling the biker reckless.

Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts said he was shocked after viewing the clip.

“We simply cannot condone this type of behaviour on our roads,” he said.
