Toastmasters induct new committee
The second breakfast meeting for the newly-formed Modderfontein Toastmaster’s Club was held on September 14.
The morning kicked off with speakers who gave both prepared and unprepared speeches. They also provided thought-provoking accounts of their lives. The audience was treated to a lot of humor in the process. The winner of the prepared speech was Sean Heron. Nana Owusu won the unprepared speech as well as the award for best evaluator.
The highlight of the day was the induction of the new committee by Michael Coyle, the area governor, who reminded the new committee how vital their new roles are to the club, as well as the roles each member plays in the success of the club. They are responsible for maintaining the high standards of the club as well as helping the club achieve its goals.
The new committee is Dylan Cooke-Tonnesen (Sergeant at Arms), Darren Bergman (Treasurer), James Dlamini (Secretary), Rhoda Khanyi (Vice President Public Relations), Richard Armour (Vice president Membership), Theo Truter (Vice President Education) and Karen Armour (President).
Members of the public are invited to the next meeting, which promises to be colorful, with the theme Our African Heritage on September 28. For more information, contact Karen Armour on 074 153 0992 or Rhoda Khanyi on 082 742 3971.
