Hijacked vehicle recovered

Police officers received a call from a tracking company requesting assistance.

A man was arrested for being in possession of a hijacked vehicle on Wednesday.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer, said police officers received a call from a tracking company requesting assistance.

“The tracking company staff said they had traced a VW Polo Vivo that was hijacked at Moffatview. The car was seen at a church in Browning Street, Jeppestown. On their arrival, they found a security guard. He told them a man had parked the car there the previous night,” said W/O Munyai.

While the police officers were checking the car, a man believed to be the driver of the vehicle arrived.

Police officers questioned the man and he allegedly confessed to bringing the vehicle to the church.

The man was arrested and detained at the Jeppe SAPS.
