Grade 1 pupils from Dominican Convent School, in Belgravia, recently visited the Randburg Junior Traffic Training Centre.
Children were given a lecture on road safety. A traffic officer guided the pupils on a rules and regulations walk through the circuit. After the walk, children rode bicycles and push-bikes around the track.
The highlight for the children were the little, working traffic lights.
One of the teachers said the children enjoyed interacting with the traffic officers and learning about road safety. As spectators, the teachers were happy not to be sharing the road with them.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department, Clr Mike Wood and Clr David Potter were thanked for their assistance and making the learning experience possible.
