A blocked sewer spilled into the garden of an Isandovale resident on November 11.

Ms Sophie Moiloanyane said the problem was an ongoing issue that occurred at least once every two months.

“The municipality was made aware of this spillage on the morning of November 11, before 7am, and were continually called throughout the day,” said Ms Moiloanyane. She added that she also contacted the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) the following day to report the matter again, as no municipal workers had arrived to fix the problem.

EMM spokesperson, Mr Sam Modiba, said an EMM sewer team was dispatched to clear the blockage.

“The responsible department will investigate the cause of the delay in response and will rectify the processes accordingly,” he said. He added that the blockage was attended to immediately and the cause of the blockage was communicated to the resident.
