A Yeoville man has been arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The incident occurred in Yeoville on December 6.
“The police were on routine patrol when they noticed a man walking on Rocky Street. They stopped to search him and found a 9mm parabellum and live rounds of ammunition,” said Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville SAPS.
They also found jewellery suspected to be stolen. The suspect was taken to the Yeoville SAPS, where he was detained.
“While the officers were about to detain the suspect, he tried to bribe the police with R2 000. A charge of bribery was also added,” said Const Malatji. He is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
