Academic excellence has become an entrenched habit at Saheti School, as yet again the class of 2013 maintained the school’s unbroken 100 percent pass rate.
In addition, the matric class of 2013 achieved a record 142 distinctions in the IEB FET National Senior Certificate examinations. Of the 55 pupils, 46 percent received multiple distinctions, while 93 percent of the group achieved a pass with university exemption.
Outgoing executive head, Mrs Anastasia Krystallidis, is proud of these achievements, which she attributes to Saheti’s philosophy of offering its pupils the opportunity to take academic subjects of their choice, rather than limiting their options.
The NEWS reported last week that Saheti pupil, Matthew McGurk attained 10 distinctions.
Otherf the top achievers at the school include Ari Anastassiou, who achieved nine distinctions in English, history, information technology, life orientation, mathematics, mathematics paper 3, modern Greek, physical science and advanced programme mathematics.
He was ranked within the top 5 percent of IEB pupils nationally in six or more subjects and within the top one percent in history and information technology.
Anasofia Bizos received nine distinctions for English, French, history, isiZulu, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, modern Greek and advanced programme English. She was ranked within the top one percent of IEB pupils nationally in English, history and life sciences.
Savva Pouroullis received nine distinctions in Afrikaans, English, history, information technology, life orientation, mathematics, mathematics paper 3, modern Greek and advanced programme mathematics. He was ranked within the top one percent of IEB pupils nationally in English.
Alexi Stephanou received eight distinctions in business studies, English, history, life orientation, mathematics, mathematics paper 3, modern Greek and physical science.
Marko Vidalis received eight distinctions in Afrikaans, English, information technology, life orientation, mathematics, mathematics paper 3, modern Greek and advanced programme mathematics. He was ranked in the top one percent of IEB pupils nationally in modern Greek.
Samantha Dos Santos achieved eight distinctions in English, Hellenic studies, history, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, mathematics paper 3 and physical science.
