Five injured in Edenvale accident

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the N3 eastern bypass near Marlboro drive in Modderfontein, Edenvale, on Friday morning.

Upon arrival at the scene, paramedics found that a heavy goods vehicle and five motor vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision.

Four people were found in a serious condition.

Another victim was entrapped in his vehicle and found to be in a critical condition.

Emergency services made use of the Jaws of Life to extricate the man from his vehicle.

All those injured were treated on-scene before they were transported to hospital for further medical care.

Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
