Top taxi drivers rewarded

The national co-ordinator for taxi’s, Mr Malose Joe Modisha, said the awards aimed to recognise the best in the business.

The Lethabong Taxi Association (LTA) held its first Taxi Driver of the Year awards last week.

The awards aim to encourage drivers to deliver better service to passengers and were therefore voted for by passengers.

During a survey of passengers in Edenvale, drivers were marked on passenger satisfaction and safety.

The national co-ordinator for taxi’s, Mr Malose Joe Modisha, said the awards aimed to recognise the best in the business.

He added that it is hoped that other drivers will learn from the awards. He hopes the awards will encourage drivers to offer better service.

“Without our passengers, we have no businesses. Those who did not win must learn from those rewarded and aim to better their service to the community,” said Mr Modisha.

It is hoped the awards will become an annual event.

Mr Mhlahlandlela Mhlanga was voted as the most intelligent and honest driver, while Mr Gilbert Mthobeki received the award for being the friendliest driver in the association.

The award for the most improved and understanding driver was given to Mr Bongani Mazibuko, while Mr Samson Madonsela was rewarded for being the most disciplined driver.

The top award for driver of the year 2013 was awarded to Mr Partick Mamapha.

Each winning driver was given a certificate, trophy and a cash prize before being treated to lunch.

“We congratulate all those who won. Please keep up the great service you provide to our customers,” said Mr Modisha.
