Resident furious over impatient driver

The mother started hooting at me to go which is fine, I can understand, but then she starts driving right up my tail because I'm not going fast enough for her in a 60km zone and I slow down for the speed bumps, which is why they are there. She then tried to overtake me but couldn't as there was on-coming traffic.

EDITOR – We’ve all read recently in the newspapers regarding road rage incidents and the fatal endings.

One the morning of February 28, I encountered a mother of three children, which by the way were not wearing seat belts and the one toddler was sitting in the front leaning on the dashboard.

Firstly, I was allowing another car to turn in front of us as they never get a chance and sit waiting for quite a while at the intersection from Kloof Road turning up Primrose Hill.

The mother started hooting at me to go which is fine, I can understand, but then she starts driving right up my tail because I’m not going fast enough for her in a 60km zone and I slow down for the speed bumps, which is why they are there. She then tried to overtake me but couldn’t as there was on-coming traffic.

Then, when I need to turn right into Kings Road she does too, but she turns from behind me and cuts onto the other side of the road instead of going around the roundabout as per the rules of the road.

When I eventually had an opportunity to stop next to her and tell her to stop driving like that, to stop hooting and to strap her children in, she totally ignored me. I was not born a fighter but this incident has made me livid. People need to be more courteous and regard the rules of the road, respect other drivers and of course most importantly, strap your children in if you want to drive like a total idiot. It’s not everybody’s fault she woke up late and was late for her child’s school.

I’m very angry and I truly hope you publish this so she can get a reality check and know everyone’s in a rush, not just her, but we’re still cautious. I pray she starts strapping her children in and drives properly before she comes across an aggressive driver.
