Yeoville CPF election dates announced
The Sector 1 elections will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at the Elijah Barayi Conference Centre at 7pm.

The Yeoville Community Police Forum (YCPF) has announced the dates for the election of office bearers.
The Sector 1 elections will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at the Elijah Barayi Conference Centre at 7pm.
The doors will be closed at that time and no late comers will be allowed in.
Sector 1 covers Yeoville, the area between Joe Slovo in the west, Cavendish Street in the east, Louis Botha in the north and South Street in the south.
The election for Sector 2 will be held at the St Aidans Anglican Church on Tuesday, May 13, at 7pm. St Aidans Anglican Church is in Regent Street, between Bedford and Cavendish Streets.
The election for Sector 3 will be held on Thursday, May 15, at the Observatory Golf Course starting at 7pm. Sector 3 covers a significant part of Observatory, the area from De La Rey in the west, East Street, William Light Park in the east and the upper part of Observatory Ridge Park, including The Curve and North Avenue up to Marcia in the south.
Any resident covered by the Yeoville SAPS precinct is entitled to participate in the election of the new executives of the three Community Police Forum sectors. Residents can nominate potential members of the executive if they live in that sector.
The person nominated must be a person they know and trust. The people nominated should ideally, but not necessarily, have participated in that sector’s activities and must also live in that sector.
Nomination forms have already been circulated and nominations can be put in an envelope and left at the front desk at the Yeoville Police Station for the attention of the YCPF chairperson. This must be done before Friday, April 25.
There are some exclusions regarding who can become a member of the executive of a sector. The person cannot have a criminal record, cannot be an office bearer of any political party registered with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), cannot be a member or a reservist with the SAPS and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). The person must be a South African citizen.
“We had hoped to hold the elections in April. However, after considering the difficulties of April given the number of public holidays and ensuring a realistic timetable and the national and provincial elections, it was decided to postpone the election of office bearers until after the national elections,” said Mr Keith Peacock, the chairperson of the YCPF.
