Sergio – the little fighter

Sergio suffered severe bleeding on his brain and as a result, was born with cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

16-month-old Sergio Amaro De Sousa has had more operations to date than most people will have in an entire lifetime.

Little Sergio was born two months premature by emergency caesarean section after his mother, Leigh, fell.

Sergio suffered severe bleeding on his brain and as a result, was born with cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

Despite a number of setbacks after birth, including meningitis and septicaemia, Sergio was clearly born a fighter.

He has not stopped fighting and is growing from strength to strength.

His parents, Mario and Leigh, have sacrificed all their time and strength, as well as their jobs to provide for his needs and hope he will continue to fight and grow strong.

Round Table Edenvale 63 has made a number of donations towards Sergio, including a state-of-the-art wheelchair to the value of R30 000.

The organisation is calling on other members of the community to follow suit.
