#2026Localelections: WATCH: Long queues mark voting day at Saheti School in Bedfordview

Voters turned out in numbers at Saheti School, raising concerns over water cuts, queues for the elderly, and communication.

Bedfordview residents queued to cast their ballots at Saheti School on the morning of November 4.

When the Bedfordview and Edenvale News arrived at the voting station at about 10:00, a long queue had been split into two voting substations.

Bedfordview resident Felicia Hardwick shares that from this election she would like to see better service delivery such as water.

IEC officials were unable to provide the exact number of voters, explaining that head office permission was required before speaking to the media.

An elderly resident, who asked to be identified only as Brenda, said she was born in 1955 and had voted since turning 18. She expressed unhappiness that no separate queue was provided for the elderly at the Saheti voting station.

Some older voters noted they were unaware of special voting dates because no one had contacted them.

Both the SAPS and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department were present at the station.
