Mr Desmond Edgar was inducted as the new President of the Thornhill Probus Club on Tuesday, March 18.

The outgoing president, Ms Frayne Mathijs, shared in her report for 2013 to 2014 a brief overview of how the club came about its existence.

The Thornhill Probus Club was established on October 21, 2003, with the inaugural meeting convened and sponsored by the Edenvale Rotary Club in the community centre of the village.

The president of the Edenvale Rotary Club, Mr Ken Warbuton, gave the welcoming address to 25 members.

Although Probus is based in a retirement village, it has multiplied from 25 to 130 members and visitors from Lakeside and Thornhill Estate.

At the induction of President Edgar, the club celebrated the former presidents of the club.

The meetings and outings held are centred around socialising and fellowship, as well as hosting speakers on various topics.
