According to the Second Expert Report, there are three lifestyle choices one can make to help prevent cancer.
You need to reach a healthy body weight, eat a healthy diet and engage in regular physical activity.
There are several foods that contribute to a healthy diet:
- Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
- Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussels sprouts, bok choy and kale.
- Spinach, romaine lettuce, mustard greens.
- Tomatoes.
- Garlic.
- Beans.
- Whole grain.
- Tea.
The Head of the Nutrition Department at the Harvard School of Public Health, Mr Walter Willet said, “If you don’t smoke, the simple most important thing you can do to prevent cancer is keep your weight under control.”
When it comes to the physical aspect, one needs to balance their weight in order to improve their immune system and keep the digestive system healthy.
One should aim for at least 30 minutes of activity on most days of the week. Activities such as walking, cycling, swimming, using the stairs, parking a little further from the office should not be taken for granted; it may just save your life.
