Camera process underway
It was recently reported that a year had passed since the notorious Terrace Road claimed the lives of Wesley Simpson, Tamlyn Lewis, Slade Mathews and Angelia Maree.
A new service provider for the installation of cameras on Terrace Road, Edenvale, has been appointed.
The Spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, said local Senior Public Prosecutors (SPP’s) are in the process of handing over recommendations on the application submitted by the EMPD to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
“The process of implementing permanent speed cameras on Terrace Road and other roads is underway,” said Supt Kgasago.
“The service provider has to comply with a plethora of conditions and the SPPs have to study the application made by the EMPD to the DPP before approving the permanent sites applied for,” he added.
It was recently reported that a year had passed since the notorious Terrace Road claimed the lives of Wesley Simpson, Tamlyn Lewis, Slade Mathews and Angelia Maree.
Despite an outcry from the community and the executive mayor of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM), it appeared that nothing was done to prevent speeding on Terrace Road.
