Fire awareness campaign launched
The campaign was launched at the Delmore Informal Settlement in Boksburg and is aimed at saving lives and property through the prevention of fires in the Ekurhuleni area.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) launched a pre-winter Fire Awareness campaign on Friday April 25.
The campaign was launched at the Delmore Informal Settlement in Boksburg and is aimed at saving lives and property through the prevention of fires in the Ekurhuleni area.
The EMM area houses a total of 119 informal settlements and it is for this reason that awareness among residents regarding fire safety is a priority.
The campaign will also mark the introduction of Community Emergency Response Teams, consisting of 600 volunteers, which will be tasked with driving fire safety and prevention within their communities.
The EMM has extended the programme and trained more people in order to empower communities in informal settlements with the knowledge and skills to save lives and property.
