Felicia continues spreading the Gospel

Internationally acclaimed artist and Kensington resident, Ms Felicia Marion, continues to spread the gospel through evangelism.

Internationally acclaimed artist and Kensington resident, Ms Felicia Marion, continues to spread the gospel through evangelism.

Born in Pietermaritzburg, Ms Marion reaches her audience through contemporary, spirit-filled music and worship.

“My dad was a musician and one day he held a variety show. He coupled it with music and dance. That’s where my love of music began,” said Ms Marion.

She said it is never a decision to go on a spiritual journey. “It was more of a motivation,” said Ms Marion.

Felicia meets people wherever they are, in shelters, street corners, concerts, crusades, revivals and conferences to share the love of Christ. Her ministry stretches from New York to Johannesburg.

She has featured with acclaimed artists such as Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba and undertaken studio recordings with Jonathan Butler, Gwen Guthrie and Lynette Hawkins Stevens. Her music albums, to date, include Sweetwaters / Amanzimtoti, My heart is his and Compassion.

She has lived in Kensington for over 10 years. “Kensington has changed a lot since I moved here from Betrams. A number of artists live here and it was always my first choice. Once you get used to the layers, it is a good place to live and it is convenient due to its location,” said Ms Marion.

She has a daughter, who is currently living and studying in America. She said her plans include releasing another album, a book and community projects.

“Ministers give words of encouragement, but you cannot speak to a hungry man,” said Ms Marion. One of her biggest singles, Paradise Road, has recently been used in a nation-wide talent search competition. “I appreciate that, it is a good thing to be remembered,” said Ms Marion. @JoburgJourno
