Swimmers excel

Peter Buckle, who competed in the boys U/10 age group, won a gold medal in the 100 metre freestyle and 50 metre freestyle, a silver medal in the 200 metre freestyle and a bronze medal in the 200 metre individual medley.

The Mandeville Dolphins was placed eighth overall out of 58 clubs at the recent Swimming South Africa Level 1 Regional Championships.

Level 1 swimmers from the Mandeville Dolphins, based in Bez Valley, followed in the footsteps of their level 2 and 3 counterparts and won four gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze medals at the event which was held at Delville in Germiston.

Clubs they competed against included those from Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Mozambique.

Peter Buckle, who competed in the boys U/10 age group, won a gold medal in the 100 metre freestyle and 50 metre freestyle, a silver medal in the 200 metre freestyle and a bronze medal in the 200 metre individual medley.

Divan Pretorius won a silver medal in the 100 metre freestyle and Justin van Aardt won a bronze medal in the 200 metre individual medley.

Ethan Berriman won a gold medal in the 50 metre backstroke and 100 metre backstroke and a silver medal in the 50 metre freestyle event.

Other swimmers such as Storm Buck, Hannah Robertson and Abigail Morelli who swam in the finals also put points on the board for the club helping them to eight place overall.
