Three arrested for murder, unlicensed firearms and ammunition

According to Const Malatji, police received information on May 3 regarding the whereabouts of the three men.

Three men were arrested for murder and the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The arrests took place on Hunter Street on May 3.

“The suspects, aged 24, 26 and 29, shot and killed a security guard on April 18 in Hunter Street. The suspects robbed him of his belongings. A murder docket was opened and an investigation launched,” said Constable Thabo Malatji, of the Yeoville SAPS.

According to Const Malatji, police received information on May 3 regarding the whereabouts of the three men.

“Police officers went to Hunter Street and found the men. On searching them, two unlicensed firearms were found with the serial numbers filled off,” said Const Malatji.

He said the suspects took officers to their residence, where 37 rounds of live ammunition were found. “The suspects were detained and are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges of murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” said Const Malatji.
