Take care of your vehicles

Residents are urged to take better care of their vehicles.

There has been an increase in vehicle thefts and theft out of motor vehicles in the Cleveland SAPS precinct.

“People leave their vehicles unlocked and sometimes idling at shopping centres. Vehicles are parked where there are no security guards or unattended on pavements for hours. They also leave valuable items in vehicles and they are urged not to,” said Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer.

People are urged to double check that their vehicles are locked.

Criminals are using jamming devices to block remote control signals, making it easy to access vehicles.

The Cleveland SAPS has operational plans in place to target hotspot areas.

“We urge community members to stay alert and monitor vehicles at all times,” said Const Mashakane.
