The Edenglen High School Drum Majorettes, also known as the Blues, hosted a fundraising event which saw 48 different primary and high schools travel from all over Gauteng to Edenglen High School.

The event took place on Saturday, May 10.

The fundraising event was an initiative to instil creativity and a love for the sport among young girls.

Edenglen High does not have an official sponsor, so the fundraising was held to fund and meet the financial obligations of the school’s drumming sport throughout the year.

Teams from various schools had to showcase their abilities by competing in all disciplines, which included the flag, non-prop and pom, throwing prop and the small and large drill.

The fundraiser was also an opportunity for the parents to engage in the fundraising by selling different items and refreshments to visitors.

The Blues have representing Edenglen High School since 1981 and are the oldest team still competing today.

The Blues are also a member of the Gauteng Drums Majorette and Cheerleading Association.
