New Yeoville SAPS completion delayed
The completion date of the new Yeoville SAPS building has been delayed from the end of June to the end of August.
The completion date of the new Yeoville SAPS building has been delayed from the end of June to the end of August.
“The delays are due to a number of factors. Community strike action delayed us for two weeks, rain also contributed to the delays, the public holidays and the brick and sand supply were disrupted after rain for three days before alternative supply could be actioned,” said Mr Johan Nell, the project manager of the construction.
He said the current brick and plastering work will take up to six weeks to complete.
“The roof is on, practical completion will be towards the end of August 2014,” said Mr Nell.
According to Mr Nell, some of the difficulties they encountered included community involvement that resulted in about three months of delays.
“Another factor was that the concrete structure took three months longer to complete due to the large amount of concrete beams in the slab and the heavy nature of the concrete design,” said Mr Nell.
