Old dog abandoned at SPCA

An old male Boerboel was tied to an electrical pole outside the organisation’s property in Sebenza.

When staff at the Edenvale SPCA arrived at work this morning, June 4, they did not expect to be greeted by an abandoned elderly dog.

An old male Boerboel was tied to an electrical pole outside the organisation’s property in Sebenza.

It is not known how long he had been there or who dropped him off.

“He is old, thin and has several sores on his limbs,” said the manageress of the Edenvale SPCA, Ms Dennise Beatie.

The wire which bound the dog to the pole was untied and the animal lead to the kennels.

“He was extremely hungry and ate everything we game him,” said Ms Beatie.

“There is no excuse for this. There are two numbers on the gate to phone in case of an emergency. Those who cannot call can always hoot as the staff live on the property,” she added.

“He does not deserve this,” said Ms Beatie.
