Drunk man linked to house burglary

It was later found that the keys belonged to a vehicle parked at a house in Hurlyvale which was burgled the day before.

A man arrested while intoxicated in public has been linked to a burglary in Hurlyvale.

The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the arrest was made by sector police officers while on a routine patrol on Sunday morning last week.

“When the man was searched, he was found in possession of a set of car keys. It was later found that the keys belonged to a vehicle parked at a house in Hurlyvale which was burgled the day before,” said Lt Col Roberts.

He added that a profile on the man showed he had been previously arrested for a similar offence.

He appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday last week.
