Street committee, Yeoville SAPS display unity
As soon as the committee members showed visibility on the street, the sex-workers were nowhere to be seen.
The Frances Street committee, joined by the Yeoville SAPS, took to the streets in an effort to display their disapproval of sex-work taking place on Frances Street.
The committee members met on Frances Street on Monday, July 28. As soon as the committee members showed visibility on the street, the sex-workers were nowhere to be seen.
The secretary of the Yeoville Community Police Forum (YCPF) sector 3, Mr Joseph Dube, said they will continue to intensify their efforts in an attempt to remove the sex-workers from the street.
“We are trying to drive the message that they are not welcome here. The people who buy these services do not do it on their street, which shows it is unacceptable behaviour,” said Mr Dube.
He said this would show co-operation between the Yeoville SAPS and the Frances Street committee. @JoburgJourno
