Renowned judges determine winning writers
Local writers excel at annual competition.
The Writers 2000 Annual Writing Competition, held on July 26, was attended by renowned judges who adjudicated the competition.
First prize in the fiction category went to Ms Michelle Sachs. Ms Burgie Ireland and Ms Jill Jacques were runners-up.
The back pager category, judged by award winning journalist and trainer Ms Marion Scher, was won by Ms Geraldine Wilkins with Ms Lorna Senior in second place and Ms May Geddes taking third place.
Porcupine Press director and author, Mr Dave Robbins, did the honours for the non-fiction category.
Ms Gillian Katz took first place in this category with Ms Burgie Ireland in second and Ms Geraldine Wilkins in third place.
The poetry category, judged by Professor David Medalie of the University of Pretoria, was won by Mr Duncan Stepto, the poetry editor of the The Write Stuff magazine.
Ms Lorna Senior took second place and Ms Jill Jacques was third.
Writers 2000 will meet on August 30 at the Inyoni Creek Clubhouse at the Rand Aid Complex at 2pm.
